The gallery’s Modern British artists - Adler, Bomberg, Brodzky, Epstein, Herman, Gertler, Gotlib, Kramer and Meninsky - came from very humble beginnings and most of them were not born in Britain. However, they all became foremost artists of 20th century art in this country with their energy, drive and uncompromising attitude to achieve the highest possible standard in their work.
